GIRLS LIKE YOU BY MAROON 5 FT CARDI B

maroon5American rock band Maroon 5 have come up with a video featuring a stellar starcast of female celebrities in their latest single titled Girls Like You featuring rapper Cardi B.

The track speaks of girl power and apart of Maroon 5’s sixth studio album Red Pill Blues and the video for the song is directed by the 'Wedding Crashers' filmmaker David Dobkin.

The visuals in the song can literally make your head spin, not with the number of celebrities, but by the revolving shots, features famous women from all walks of life including comediennes, YouTube personalities, sports-persons, actresses, singers, politicians and entrepreneurs.

Some recognisable names include Camila Cabello, Gal Gadot, Lilly Singh, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Ashley Graham, Rita Ora and even Levine’s model-wife Behati Prinsloo and their daughter, Gio Grace.

P-UNIT TO MAKE COME BACK WITH NEW SONG TITLED CHOCHA

Top Kenyan music group P-Unit is gearing up for a comeback like no other. The group have been teasing their new upcoming video on social media and it's clear the award winning group is ready to take their rightful place in the industry.

P Unit aka Wagenge hao are set to release this new hit track called Chocha soon.

The group that consists of Frasha, Gabu and Bon-eye said that their silence was because of their other individual engagements.

The group said that they also took a break to study the direction the music industry is taking so that when they make their grand comeback, they shall have good things for their fans.

P-Unit denied ever splitting stating that their unity has even grown further and their silence was for their 2018 plans.

The trio revealed that they now plan to release their mini-Album this year.

KANYE WEST HAS RETURNED WITH HIS EIGHTH SOLO ALBUM

West18It’s titled simply, ye.The album spans seven tracks and includes guests appearances from Nicki Minaj, Kid Cudi, Ty Dolla Sign, Jeremih, Charlie Wilson, and 070 Shake.

Kanye premiered the album during a listening event in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on Thursday night. Subscribers of Apple Music and Spotify can now stream it in full below.

The album’s artwork features a photograph of Wyoming mountains along with the text, “I hate being Bi-Polar. it’s awesome.” According to Kim-Kardashian West, Kanye took the photograph on his iPhone on the way to the listening party.

ye follows 2016’s The Life of Pablo. It’s also the second in a series of five Kanye-produced albums that began last week with Pusha-T’s DAYTONA and continues next week Kanye and Kid Cudi’s collaborative album, Kids See Ghosts. New solo albums from Nas and Teyana Taylor follow on June 15th and 22nd, respectively.

SERRO RELEASES OKELLO

SERROKenyan songstress Serro is a mellow voiced powerhouse and is excited to release the stunning music video for her latest single, “Okello”.

Using earthy but stunning visuals, the music video stays true to the catchy and soothing melody reminiscent of Mbilia Bel and the Afro-touch synonymous with Serro.

Shot in the outskirts of Nairobi, the first scene places the viewer in a quaint rural backdrop. The narrative captures the restlessness between a couple and the consequences of pursuing them.

“For me, this song is about having the will to be free in life. And relationships are what life is all about. Johnson is amazing in how he captured the picture in my head when writing and recording it,” says the “Rongai” songstress.

Serro’s nostalgia and her sense of longing to return home are palpable with every lyric. Named after a river, Serro mirrors this fact with her voice meandering beautifully through heavenly harmonies and soft, soaring coos.

KRISTOFF- IS BACK WITH TWO NEW TUNES AFTER A LONG HIATUS

And while Kristoff has featured in a number of collaborations since then, his fans have been crying out for another solo effort.

 

He has delivered two new joints – Handle It and Candy Bar, with the latter featuring producer and hitmaker Ulopa Ngoma.

 

‘Handle It’ comes complete with visuals directed by Young Wallace while fans will have to contend with only the audio version of ‘Candy Bar’.

SAUTI SOL RELEASES SHORT AND SWEET FEATURING NYASHINSKI

sautinyaAward winning Kenyan boy band Sauti Sol have collaborated with top singer Nyashinski for their new track “Short and Sweet”. The song is already available on all major music streaming platforms such as Songa music by Safaricom, Spotify and iTunes.

“Even before I came back to Kenya, I was always in awe of the works of Sauti Sol. It’s amazing how we struck a cord almost immediately, and we’ve grown to become friends.

I always believed this (working together) was going to happen at some point; the actualization is an honor to be part of their Afrikan Sauce project", Nyanshiski said.

“Short and Sweet” is the fifth single of their upcoming LP “Afrikan Sauce” which is set to be released soon.

Other songs in the LP include; Melanin featuring Nigeria's Patoranking, Rewind our very own rapper Khaligraph Jones, Afrikan Star feat Nigeria's Burna Boy, Girl Next Door feat Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage and Live and Die in Afrika (Remix) American rapper Rick Ross.

UGANDA'S NAVIO RELEASES PAPER

paperUgandan master of hits and classics, Navio teams up The Mith (Uganda) and Nigeria’s Ice Prince in new release titled “Paper”.

The single, presented by Navcorp and Icon, is produced by Mo Piano and mastered by Dawoo at Audio Central. It’s a super fresh and clean track with edgy hip-hop sounds meets trap. The video was shot and edited by the power duo: Shiloh and Henix.

”The single is the flagship production under Icon, Navio’s brand new cutting edge Ugandan studio and label, opening soon. It’s just one among many of Navio’s great projects set to launch. “This song is really about those on the hustle and push limits to achieve their dreams. It’s also a cautionary tale with hints of vengeance and the pitfalls of the high life,” he adds.

“Paper” follows the success of “Nielewe” collaboration between Navio and Vanessa Mdee.

CALVO MISTARI, BOBBY MAPESA AND FENA GITU TEAM UP IN A NEW PROJECT

map2018Bobby Mapesa and Calvo Mistari make BC— the Kenyan hip hop music duo who unveiled their new merger while releasing their debut album (BC) last year (2017).

They have since been working on several projects that have birthed two music videos of their new single, produced by Cedo: LOVE ME featuring sky rocketing Kenyan femcee Fena. One is by acclaimed Kenyan director VJ One with the second one directed by Odibz of Team Mistari, depicting social media’s influence on relationships. Video two features renowned Kenyan media personality Kamene Goro.

Speaking on the smooth R&B track, Calvo said, “This is one of the songs in BC album that shows the diversity of our sound. From the collaboration to production; we hope you all love it!”

The same was echoed by Bobby who said, “My fans have never heard this soft side of me. I think working on a love song is nice for a change!”

DAVIDO'S NEW SINGLE, ''ASSURANCE''

Davido Davido's new single, ''Assurance'' has officially crossed the 1M views mark on YouTube barely 24hours after release.

The video which was put out on Tuesday, 1st of May hit the million mark barely 24 hours after its release.

'Assurance', which is a song dedicated to his girlfriend Chioma, had seen the duo trending on social media ever since the release of the single, a day before the video was premiered.

The song which had been released on the occasion of Chioma's 23rd birthday had gained the much needed fuel to boost its hype when the singer shut down a club for her birthday party and followed it up by presenting her with a Porsche car as a birthday gift.

This has attracted a lot of comments from celebrities and Nigerians across social media, with some even converting the title of the song to vision statements and prayer points.

SINGER MUMBI BACK IN KENYA TO LAUNCH EP

mumbiUSA-based Kenyan songstress, Mumbi, is back to Kenya and set to launch her debut EP “For The Culture” – 30th of April 2018 from East Africa, in a worldwide release. Known for her diverse sound that blends afro-house, soul, R&B and hip hop, Mumbi is set for her biggest career move that has now birthed the 5– track EP featuring the singles: “Yours”, “Intro”, “Soweto”, “Good Enough” and “Too Much”.

Speaking on “For The Culture” EP and her return to Kenya, Mumbi says: “I chose to launch the EP in Kenya because everything begins at home. Kenya is my home and what better way to launch something than at home first. I wrote most of the songs on the EP at a time in my life where I had taken some time off to regroup,” hinting on her future plans: “I plan on moving back to home and definitely working on a new album from Kenya.”

Even before the EP was ready for release, Mumbi was concurrently working on her debut album, which is expected to be ready by September 2018. While in Kenya, she intends to collaborate with top Kenyan acts including Khaligraph Jones, Steph Kapela, Xtatic and Camp Mulla.
