ethicIf 2018 is anything to go by, then gear up for a good year of music by these artists. 2018 was a great year musically speaking in Kenya, albums were released,  as well as hard-hitting singles and collabos. There wasn’t a shortage of club bangers with the likes of “Lamba lolo”, “Short n Sweet” and “Dundaing”  keeping revelers on the dancefloor. But most importantly, 2018 was the year new artists made their mark in the industry.

These artists brought their A game and earned their seats at the table, making them artists to watch out for in 2019. Will they achieve the same success they got in 2018 or do even better?

Save for discipline issues and wrangles with their management, the Ethic crew brought some fire in 2018. Their break out song “Lamba Lolo” went viral for its crude language and unique dancing style,  becoming an instant hit with over 2 million views on YouTube while also coining a phrase. The group went on to collaborate with the Kansoul on “New Position” a track that said they are here to stay. Their 2018 success saw them picked to feature on Coke Studio Africa set to premiere in February 2019. They recently released a new song called “Instagram” which has garnered over 300,000 views.

chrisbrownAmerican singer and dancer Chris Brown has set 2019 in motion with the melodic "Undecided," released Friday (Jan. 4).

The bouncy track teams the R&B veteran producer Scott Storch, who previously worked with Brown way back in 2005 on his breakout hit "Run It."

The 29-year-old opens up about the strains of his current relationship and the impact it has had on his mental state. "No, I don't say it often/ And I probably should’ve told you I hurt this bad, I know/ And I probably shouldn't want this so bad/ It's weighing, weighing on me/ Don’t wanna wake up in the morning," he sings over the 1991 hit "I Love Your Smile" sample.

"Undecided" serves as the first single off Chris Brown's upcoming Indigo album, which he announced last year. "Hope y’all love it. Thank you all my fans for the endless support over the years, I’m humbled and grateful to be able to keep creating for you guys. LIVE LAUGH LOVE," Breezy wrote to social media.

Breezy also delivered the super natural visual to "Undecided" on Friday (Jan. 4). The fun clip stars singer and Empire actress Serayah in the role of Brown's love interest, as the pair dance the night away while playing games and riding rollercoasters on the boardwalk.

Thanks to super producer Ulopa Ngoma, we started the vibe in the studio so by the time Bobby V got there it was pure magic,” adding, “We worked with Petra to give it a strong female presence as well. I wanted to push the envelope for Kenyan music so this became a vibe that became an epic project being that Bobby V has done numerous hits "Mrs. Officer" with Lil Wayne, "Around the world" with Ludacris and working with all the top music producers from the Neptunes and Pharrell and Timbaland it was only right for us to cross the vibes.”
